Dream Lesson:

Take objects from area where student finds themself most. Objects can be anything. Pick one thing about the physicality of the objects that seems connected. This can be color, shape, texture. In addition, think about any underlying ideas outside of physicality that may relate to your objects. What is it about them that relates to you? Some questions to ask could be “Is there a common story behind these objects?”, “Where did you find them?”, “Are the memories associated with these objects related?” Create a sculptural piece out of the objects, be it figurative or abstract, that embodies aspects of their physical nature and emotional/symbolic nature.

Timeline:

  • Week 1 - gather materials, begin conceptualizing work and organization of piece
  • Week 2 through 4 - work on piece
  • Week 5 - work is due for critique
